Your data is totally secure. The data is encrypted before it is sent to our servers. You can change the default encryption key to one of your choice. A master decryption key is also set by us, but is only known to the directors of the infrastructure partner company and is stored at their law firm. You have the option to have your account disabled from being accessed with the master decryption key, but then it will not be possible to read your data if you lose this.

The servers themselves are behind secure firewalls and only a single port is exposed on the public IP address. Even if access were gained to the servers, your data is of no use to anyone as it is encrypted and therefore meaningless as it is stored without the key.

Our servers use RAID disks for reliability. There are multiple backup servers clustered together for processing the data. Your backup data is then copied to our data center in London for ultimate protection. The London servers are backed up each night to an automated tape storage system and the tapes are rotated off site each day to a secure storage vault.

100’s of encryption algorithms are available but a few stand out!

• DES was adopted in 1977 by the US Government and uses a 56 bit key
• Triple DES which is substantially stronger than DES, and uses a 168 bit key
• Blowfish was designed in 1993 as a fast and secure alternative to DES, using keys of up to 448 bits

Blowfish is a block cipher that was designed in 1993 by Bruce Schneier as a fast, free alternative to existing encryption algorithms. It can be used as a convenient and much faster substitute for DES. Since its design, Blowfish has been extensively analyzed and no significant weaknesses have been found. It is considered to be a strong algorithm and has been implemented in over 130 commercial applications.
